When buying or renting your marquee many factors are considered before you sign on the dotted line, these include price, shape, décor, furniture and so on. One aspect you need to keep in mind is how will you erect the marquee once it arrives?

Many marquee hire companies offer the service of erecting it for you, this will be for a fee of course but as they do it everyday they are fast and efficient, plus you will have the comfort of knowing the job will be done right, you don’t want roof to cave in on your guests now do we!

Erect the marquee yourself

So what about if you have bought the marquee, or if you are on a budget and want to save some money and you are in charge of erecting the marquee yourself? How easy are marquees to put up?

The marquees made today are built so that it is easy to put up for the end user. Different marquee shapes will come with a different amount of poles, and they will fix together accordingly, and the different material of the marquee will differ also but all will arrive with a set of instructions and on average can be erected within 2-4 hours depending on man power.

3. Peg Positioning
4. Knock in the Pegs
5. Lay out the side poles and guy ropes
6. Prop up the corner
7. Push up center with main pole
8. Tension the Marquee

Be safe! Safety is extremely important and there are certain things to remember when erecting a marquee:

• Don’t let anyone in the marquee before you have finished erecting it
• Never take down a marquee in windy conditions
• Don’t erect the marquee on loose or sandy ground
• Check all ropes are in good condition before you erect the marquee
